perhaps "figuring out what it is that makes you happy, and doing that" is what your purpose is?
i'm totally open to the idea that we've all got our own personal purposes. Ultimately, i think that as a species our purposes are all going to the same direction, but that doesn't mean they have to take the same path. And other metaphysical stuff. (Also, not being certain about you purpose is totally fine and cool.)
i first read "Good Omens" at a time in my life when i had little direction and when i got to the part where Sister Mary Loquacious is finding herself and comes to the realization that all she can do in this life is to be herself just as hard as she can, that hit me like a ton of bricks. Talk about reading the right message at the right time in your life!
