beware: online shopping with "wawadigitals"

Wow, now their website has totally disappeared. Their Yahoo! store number is: yhst-31999284862497

I ordered a digital camera from these cheats at an amazing price. Yes, if it sounds too good to be true.... I did research on good astrophotography cameras and came up with the Canon Digital Rebel EOS XT as a good bet for that (plus general photography). It retails for a thousand bucks, and I got it for $450. Yeah, I know, but I gave it a try.

Well, they kept calling to sell me more accessories, and I said I just wanted the camera; after several days of this, they simply canceled my order. Wow. The salesman said it was on back order for 3-4 weeks, and I said that's fine, but they canceled it anyway. When I called pretending to be a new customer, the phone sales guy (a different one) was a nutcase, pressuring me about which "package" I wanted. I said I wanted what was online, but as I started to describe it, he'd interrupt more and more adamantly. I couldn't figure out what he was asking. I said, "I just want to buy a camera from you." To which he replied, "I'm not going to sell you a camera." Wow. This went on a bit until he hung up on me.

I contacted Yahoo! to complain, and haven't heard anything. Checked back to see if the deal was still online... not even the company is still online. Freaks.

What scares me most is that they have my credit-card number. Eek.

You should know better than that ;)

Use pricewatch.com, it's what I'd recommend to find good deals.

Yeah, but golly-gee, almost half price....

Okay, I'll try via Pricewatch. Those aren't all checked for reliability, though, are they?

Holy cow!

Can you freeze the card and get something new sent your way A.S.A.P.?

This is, clearly, my own recommendation...)

Done!

Report them to the credit card issuer ASAP and have your card number changed. You can't do this soon enough.

I will second this motion.

Do it. Do it. Do it.

Wow. Right now, I'm working on a web site all about internet security so as soon as I started reading your post, I had a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach. [livejournal.com profile] jaylake is right. Report this to your credit card company right away. You can find more guidance about how to deal with thishere.

I keep reading that as "wadagirls"

I want to know what you are ordering from "wadagirls"

Didn't recognize that, so Googled it. No hits, but got "Did you mean: nude girls?"

Heh,
Chris
