"the war on terror" has increased terrorism

So says a new intelligence report.

Eat that, you crony-enriching, nepotistic, crown-seeking, Presidential-office-stealing, prick in the White House.

::headdesk::

Why am I not suprised?

Anyone watching what's happening - or even just-plain intuitive people - could've told them that violence (i.e. war) does nothing to stop violence, especially violence sanctioned by local religious leaders in a region where young people have no hope for the future.

Yep. It all goes like that book ..Everything we need to know we learned in kindergarten.
I hate that my government is the world's playground bully.

I heard that the Intelligence Commision had to look elsewhere because they couldn't find any in the White House.

ha! i like that joke.

You're so right. I think if they'd consulted kindergarteners first, they would have stopped at the Afghan invasion.

I heard about the report this morning, and I'm just heartsick. Bad enough that he made the world unsafe for Americans, he has made it unsafe for everybody.

If all the Bushites' adventuring had at least done some good - rather than harm - it wouldn't be so bad. But it turns out there's nothing positive done by this. *frustration*

Gee, what a surprise. How will we react? Maybe a few more airline restrictions and a new military campaign will do the trick. You're with us or against us, folks.

Yep, grrr.

[identity profile] themitigator.livejournal.com 2006-09-26 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
nonsense wars against nothing! big wastes of money! woohoo!

...sort of like the "war on drugs," which turned millions of marijuana users into criminals but did nothing to reduce international trafficking of drugs that actually DESERVE their schedule I classification.

[identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com 2006-09-26 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep, though I don't know what the Bushites' cronies get out of that war. In the 1930's or so, the US Gov't decided to make marijuana "bad," mostly to satisfy the cotton growers who felt threatened by hemp. Surely the tobacco growers felt threatened, as well.

I have never known a violent or dangerous pot-head.

I have known a lot of people who behaved very badly when drinking the legal drug, alcohol.

Criminalizing pot costs us billions of dollars a year just to incarcerate these non-violent offenders, eliminates a potential tax stream, gives power to drug-lords, and encourages people to use other drugs, instead (like alcohol and tobacco). It does nothing to stop regular users from using.

"The War on Terror" has a lot of parallels, now that I think about it, and they're both about as effective.

Despite the seriousness of the subject, I had to laugh at that. I bet Dick Cheney reads your blog.

Good - that's why I responded that way, because otherwise we'd all explode from pent-up frustration and anger.
