What do you suppose will happen? They'll just get returned to me for more postage? Will the Post Office be nice and deliver anyway, you think?

And here I thought I was being so good, getting out cards and getting them out in time to reach distant friends and family by Christmas. Crap.

yeh, the post orifice will spend labor $$ just to return your cards for .02.

Either that, or in true gov't spirit, they will deliver them once your recipient pays the .02 for their card. Mwahhhhaaah!

Actually they will cancel the stamps before they return them, because the post office is nice like that.

it could go either way. Usually they'd send it back, but with it being the holidays and all they might just let it slide. Or they might be so overwhelmed they won't notice a few cards with incorrect postage. My guess is that they'll just let it go. But I guess we'll see.

I just checked the Postal Service web site (now **there's** a site that needs to be more consumer-friendly, imagine that...) and it appears to me (although I am not a Trained Postal Worker) (and I don't own no gun, neither) that if you deposit a number of letters/cards with insufficient postage, they are **supposed** to contact you about it. How long ago did you mail said items? Perhaps you could take the initiative and call your local Post Office...they're probably not doing a lot these days. (Geez, my sarcasm meter must be set on "high" today.)

So, what happened with this? I asked at my local post office today and they told me that, if anyone noticed, which they probably didn't, they'd write out a form and deliver it to the address on the card asking if the potential recipient wanted to pay the extra 2 cents to get their card.

I hope it worked out. I managed to get exactly zero cards in the mail for Christmas, which is not even a new low, sadly. So, hey there--have a happy one! (Was that as good?)

Well, they haven't returned them yet, and you'd think that would've happened if they were going to return 'em. So it might be that my recipients need to pay the 2 cents. Sigh.
