Astro-image of the day: Comet 17P/Holmes size comparison

This cool photo-montage shows the apparent size of the "Exploding Comet" 17P/Holmes compared to a more familiar object. Yes, it's now that big, but your unaided eye can only see the center portion of the comet. However, any old telescope or binoculars will give you a nice view of the whole jellyfish thing.

If you haven't taken the time to check it out, do so soon! There's no knowing how much longer it will remain visible. Remember, just a little over a month ago, it was only visible to big observatory telescopes, and then it unexpectedly exploded and brightened by a million times.
