The Diamond Age goes mainstream

The SciFi Channel is going to do a 6-hour version of Neal Stephenson's The Diamond Age! And a member of SFRA says the budget is slated for - get this - $300 million. They could actually do a fine job of it!

Wow!

I'd love to believe that, but the budget number is not credible. At all.

This is the SciFi Channel; their whole budget for the year isn't $300 million.

Seconded. Superman Returns was just over US$200m; there is NO way The Diamond Age is coming anywhere near US$300m.

Oh, sweet! I'll have to read it again before it airs. Neal Stephenson is going to adapt it for tv, so that gives me even more hope that it will be decent.

Cool! You didn't say it was coming from Clooney, which could be an interesting twist. Too bad the article doesn't give the anticipated date.
