Seems that everyone in Lawrence is tired today due to the 5:30am BOOM-athon. I'm a little extra-tired due to having stayed up late finishing Rainbow's End, a new novel by Vernor Vinge. That darned guy wrote a book that made me read until 5am! Then, half an hour later, BOOM. Then, five hours later, the alarm went off because a TV-repair guy was coming over. Then, an hour later when he was gone, I was too awake for more sleeping.

About an hour from now, I start my 3-hour night class during which I need to be clever, knowledgeable, and helpful. Woof.

Best,
Chris

That's what's nice about earplugs - they work for everything from boom-a-thons to noisy roommates coming in at 2 in the morning. I rarely know when there's been a storm unless I notice a change in the dampness of the lawn (ahem, dirt) outside my apartment complex. ^^

Maybe for you, but I need to use earplugs just to fall asleep amid regular sounds of traffic and such. Storms really wake me up!

*Some* of us have to get up at 5:30 anyway.

You and I have kinda opposite schedules, don't we? Sometimes I don't even get back from class until midnight.

Yep, we sure do. Of course, I'd probably gladly change schedules, given the opportunity. Not a morning person at all.

I lurves me the vernorvinge. I've only read A Deepness in the Sky and A Fire Upon the Deep so far, but I'm very impressed with the way his head works. I've got the Peace War on standby on the shelf, and am trying to find a copy of Across Realtime that will not look like robbery on my credit card report.
