Sanju is recovering well

Just got a call from [livejournal.com profile] sanju_devil_cat's mom, [livejournal.com profile] jensixstones, and have learned that Sanju's surgery went well - the remaining portion of a red sparkle-mouse has been removed - and she is recovering in the kitty hospital.

The surgery wasn't cheap, though, so if any friends of Sanju feel generous, the vet hospital takes donations! They're Lawrence Veterenary Hospital, and you can make a credit-card donation in Sanju's name (Jennifer Decker is her mom). Here's their info:

I was so worried about her last night when I learned that one is usually cut open in order to remove sparkle-mice... eeek! Such a relief.

Poor silly little kitty!

Chris

I'm very glad to hear she recovered from surgery OK. No more sparkle-mice for her. =(

Indeed!

No more sparkle mice. Kthx.

Yep, though I'm sure she'll learn all manner of other bad habits from her friend, Jet the Dog.

Poor kitty and her mom. It's never fun going through anything like that! It's amazing the things kitties will eat (I once found a rubber band that had been passed by Sam, in the litter box).

I know! Silly critters.

Glad to hear the puss cat is doing okay now. I know a woman that used to have a pet boa. She fed it its mouse/rat dinner and went to work. Well it seems that the snake ended up with an obstruction and had to be operated on. When they returned the convalescing snake to the woman, they also returned a pair of laundered and folded pantyhose. Why the snake was eating panythose, we'll never know. Animals, like people, sometimes eat the weirdest things.

Wow.

How's your kitty doing?

[identity profile] secret-malady.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh dear, I hope I didn't sound like an alarmist about the operation when I described how it went for our kitty! Anyway, so thrilled to hear that Sanju is doing so swell. Thanks for posting.

But like I said with Vincent, they removed the ball of tinsel from him, but they COULDN'T REMOVE THE DEVIL! Bwahh ha ha!

[identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
No, not alarmist, just realistic. I had thought they'd do something down her little throat, not through her abdomen - eeek!

Yep, if Sanju lost her "Devil Cat" nature, well, she wouldn't be [livejournal.com profile] sanju_devil_cat.

So pleased she's doing well. Um, what is a sparkle-mouse...?

[identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, well, it's a sort of tinsel-impregnated foam ball. Great for sinking one's claws and teeth into, but unfortunately (as it turns out) also easy to swallow.

She does this enormously cute trick of fetching the sparkle-mouse, bringing it back to the human thrower. I guess she doesn't get to do that any more....

[identity profile] desperance.livejournal.com 2007-04-17 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
Aww. Can't you find her something equivalent that's just too big to swallow...?

[identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com 2007-04-17 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
BIG sparkle-mice are all that she'll be allowed from now on!

[identity profile] jensixstones.livejournal.com 2007-04-17 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm thinking of colorful fabric tied in a big knot with some catnip inside. Then she can still have something to chase and carry around but the knot would be tied too large to swallow. I've gotten one of these from my vet's office before as well as had this suggested by a friend.
Now the trick will be to keep Jet from eating it.

- Now that would suck, fixing one problem while adding a new one for Jet! Pets, feh.
