Spider-Man III: Sure, it has problems, but...

...expectations of a movie are everything.

I enjoyed it a lot, even though it tries to do too many things. But isn't that what we all expected after having seen the previews? So I wasn't disappointed at all; I enjoyed the spectacle of it, and much of the acting was wonderful.

So: Fun movie with friends. Plus the serious buzz I was still feeling from the bartender giving me shots on top of my beer helped *g*

And guess what I'll be doing to start off my Memorial Day weekend in style. :-) If it's playing on IMAX in San Antonio, I'll probably even drive down there, otherwise, I'll catch it at my local Alamo Drafthouse.

Is it worth the extra buckies to see a movie on the IMAX screen?

In general, I think so. It's a movie-watching experience like no other. I saw an IMAX film at the Luxor in Las Vegas and I didn't particularly enjoy that experience, because of the design of the theater - it makes you feel you are 100 feet in the air with no one around you (they even have safety bars on the seats). My fear of heights kicked in but good (once you enter, there's only one way out), and the folks around me were pretty nice to me.

But that hasn't been my experience in general with IMAX. Other than the LV experience, all other IMAXes have been fantastic! I've seen a couple of the Harry Potter films on IMAX, and they were wonderful.

I'm not sure I'd want to see the most recent James Bond on IMAX (particularly the opening sequence, which also triggered a fear of heights reaction in me), but I think Pirates would be an absolute blast on such a huge screen.
