Our Biotech Future

This is interesting stuff: Our Biotech Future, an article by Freeman Dyson. Lots of ideas there, folks.

Best,
Chris

I got to have a seminar with Freeman on this very topic in my senior year of college. He is always such a joy.

A guy that my dad used to beat up when they were kids (But who later became one of my grandparents' friends) is one of Dyson's co-workers. That's about as close as I come to meeting him.

I think I need to buy a new book! Neat!

Dyson is curiously underexploited as a source of ideas by SF writers (with the exception of the Dyson Sphere [1]).

1: See Poul. See Poul react to the idea of a Dyson Sphere. See Poul react in horror to the idea of a Dyson Sphere.

Oh, and one or two people have heard about the Orion Rocket. I think that may be more due to John McPhee than Freeman Dyson, though.
