Just got back from going to two haunted houses (huge warehouses, actually) in Kansas City: The Beast and The Edge of Hell. Much fun! [livejournal.com profile] verminiusrex organized the trip and drove Pooch and me over for the fun.

Now I'm covered with talcum powder, dust, and rug burns, and my left arm is still tingly from the electrified wall. (Really.)

Who else has visited a haunted house this season?!

Best,
Chris

you know, i have never been to one. mainly because i know to many of the secrets of running one and know way to many of the actors. so it would end up with me talking with them. funny i have sold a lot of them the stuff they have used in the houses out at ren fair..... glad you had fun

You know, I've lived in this general area my entire life, and I've never been to one of these. And I love wacky/crazy Halloween stuff.

What are the haunted houses around here like? And are they worth the kinda steep price?

I bet! That would be fun, but not really the same experience.

The Beast was my favorite, because it's really big and has a ton of different kinds of things to see and experience throughout. The Edge of Hell was much scarier at first, and a bit more interactive (the getting-shocked thing most of all), but about 50% shorter overall. The same area has two more, including one that claims to be the biggest ever in KC....

I've never actually been to one. Part of me has been curious what the hoo-ha is about. I believe Halloween should just be a whole season of events). But, a haunted house (being pre-judgemental) never sounded like something that I wanted to spend that much money on. I recall making (cheesy) ones for shool fundraisers growing up. Maybe one day I'll try one...

These puppies are like movie sets; I don't begrudge them their fees, as I can't imagine what it cost to build, staff, and maintain throughout the year.

The only ones I have visited this year are ones that people believe are really haunted.

There are quite few around, including one of my local restaurants.

and then there is the most haunted town in Kansas: http://www.kansastravel.org/atchisontrolleytour.htm
