Astro-image of the day: amateur photo of Comet 17P/Holmes, "the exploding comet"

What a beautiful photograph! This was taken by a Hungarian astrophotographer with his home-built telescope, a 130mm f/6 refractor. It's the nicest shot of the comet that I've yet seen:

Cool! But you know, I think your icon photo is cooler. I look at it and think "Wow! I know the guy who photographed that!" And that's just...spiffy.

I must say, though, this one is nothing short of amazing.

Wow, that's fantastic. The comet pictures are cool too. I don't think I had the field of view to come anywhere close to that with the ones I took overnight. Maybe I'll try to piggy-back, or see if my solar scope (minus its solar accessories) tracks smoothly enough to work.
