Exactly!

One of the things I continue to hold out hope for, even in the midst of all that scary mess, however, is that if Obama is elected, he will conduct himself in a way that can remind the American people what it means to be presidential.

Based on the way he has conducted himself throughout the election cycle, I hope that he would be a calm, reasonable, and intelligent leader and that people would then think in future elections that those are the kinds of qualities we should look for. I hope that an Obama presidency would counter (at least in part) the growing anti-intellectualism of America and the feeling many Americans have that what they want is a President who is somehow like them or someone they'd like to have a beer with.

Absolutely!

Though I would love to have a beer with Obama. Not so much with Bush, unless we got to punch each other in the alley afterward.

Actually, I'd love to have a beer with Obama, too, but that's not a criterion for my political support of him. It's more the result of my political support of him and my genuine admiration for his performance during the campaign and his level of intelligence.

And my love of beer. :-)
