Woohoooo! Woooohooooo!

Did you hear his speech? I am so proud to be an American right now, and finally - FINALLY - I'll be able to listen to presidential speeches and not be embarrassed for living in a country that elected someone like Bush. Because, my friends, this country has elected someone worthy of making speeches to the world, someone we can be proud to call our leader.

It's a great day in America.

Cheers,
Chris

It was a wonderful speech, on all sorts of levels, not least that the speaker didn't seem to be engaged in a death struggle with the English language, and didn't seem to be perennially surprised by the words that had just come out of his own mouth. Nor will I miss the squinting at the autocue and the look of amazement ... 'are we saying that?'

Oh, and 'nuclear' - once again, you have a person who can say 'nuclear' without inserting unnecessary extra syllables. Really, that counts for a lot with me.

And then he said all sorts of sensible things that didn't make me feel that I needed to dig a bomb shelter in the back garden.

And most important, once I have the money to get back, I'll feel a lot happier about getting back to the US.

Yes, I did hear his speech...and all other issues aside, it's so lovely to have a president who can speak.

That is wonderful! I think the whole world sees it this way, that perhaps now the US isn't going to be a bigoted, racist, white-only place. They think that perhaps now we will support people from countries that aren't white.

What a great piece of art. Who did it? Doesn't have a link.

I was, too - and everyone else in the room of the election-watch party was, as well. Hope all around. We even had fireworks ;-)

Look at you with the Obama icon! That says a whole lot. I have three Middle-Eastern students in one of my classes, and they were so excited about the prospect that Obama might win. I have a feeling that your and their sentiments are not unique.

Imagine how it must feel to us, who have been ruled by the Bushes for so damned long.

Hear, hear! Now I'll not only be able to leave the radio turned on when our president speaks, I'll want to hear him.

For all that was awful about Reagan, at least the man gave good speech. Now we have a Prez who's not only a great speaker, but has great things to say. I'm just sorry that he's inheriting such a horrid mess from the last guy. On the other hand, if things turn around under his leadership, can you imagine how wonderful that will be for everyone?

I'm sorry I don't have the artists info
I saw it in another LJ friends journal(http://elamine.livejournal.com/296774.html) and snatched it up.

i'm just SO HAPPY!

A new day will dawn...

It's amazing. People are smiling at each other.

I found myself saying to people who asked how I was, "It's a *good* day!" and they all responded, "Yes, it's a *good* day!"

That's wonderful!

As for the speeches, I was actually more impressed with McCain's concession than Obama's acceptance. Obama's may have been a better speech, but it was just another great Obama speech. McCain's was a wonderful, gracious speech, from someone who hasn't done even a good speech in a long time. It made me really happy to see McCain gesture disapproval when the crowd booed Obama's name.

I'm enormously thrilled to see our new President-elect Obama. But it's awfully nice to see the old, distinguished Senator McCain has returned out from behind the ugly shadow of Republican nominee McCain.

Yah, my husband pointed out that if McCain had performed like that, as he had for that last speech, throughout his campaign things may have turned out differently.
