Whether or not that particular behavior was dictated by their genes, I'd prefer to think that it wasn't. Because then I'd have to believe that there was no choice to it. And if there's no choice to it, if people's actions in any situation are due to their genes only, then I can't give these guys respect for what they did. If the choices we make are merely tropisms, then we can't be given credit for them. So I'd prefer to think that we have a choice.
