Just a quick reminder: China Miéville talks tonight on "Cognition as Ideology: A Dialectic of SF Theory." Click for info. He's a great speaker, both humble and smart, witty but serious. And a damn fine writer.

Maybe we'll be able to take him out again for a beer or three after the event and have a chance for more personal conversation!

Oh no! It's only in the past month I've started catching up with old friends after four years of isolation. Today I had lunch with one of my closest friends. It's four years since I saw her, six years since I saw her 9yr old daughter and I have *never* seen her son.

Good for you, reaching out to old friends again. It's amazing seeing young kids suddenly metamorphize from so young to nearly adult!
