Blind from the font!

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to make LJ readable again? I'm going blind with this new, blurry, skinny font. It's not just IE, either; also in Chrome.

Are you sure you mean LJ? Mine is fine, too. FB, though, recently changed fonts to something smaller and more painful. I've just adjusted to it because the only solution I know of is to make the font on the browser as a whole bigger, which then makes the other pages I'm looking at way too big.

Yeah, mine, too. I just noticed it a couple of days ago. It doesn't look like a different font, just lower resolution. Weird.

I'll check back to see if anyone has an answer for this.

I think it is specific to IE. The new font name is Segoe, which apparently is Latin for "sucks like a giant sucking thing that sucks." It also changed my default fonts in MS Outlook.

Could be! But I'm also seeing "suck" in Chrome.

That's because it is using a new system font. That font applies to your system, or probably lots of folks using MS.

I, using *nix, do not see what you are talking about. It is the same for me as always. Probably because I don't have your Big Sucking Font That Sucks Things.

I just got another update notification. Perhaps that'll fix it....

I finally went into IE/Tools/Internet Options/General and changed the "Fonts" to Webpage Font = Verdana and I changed the "Accessibility" formatting to ignore font styles and font sizes on Web pages. So now on LJ at least, I'm seeing pages in nice, crisp Verdana, which was designed specifically to be a Web font. Segoe was clearly designed specifically as a punishment.

Thanks for the Accessibility tip; I'd already changed fonts in IE as well as in Windows. Now I've made a fine mess of things, but at least it's slightly more readable. Geebus, I hope a new update fixes all this.

I haven't experimented with it much, but doesn't Livejournal let you go into the CSS for your theme if you want? Does it not let you change your default font?

In theory, yes, but you don't get to edit the CSS directly, and in my CSS at least one cannot change fonts through a GUI, either.

I changed to a different style. Got a new, larger font that way.
