So far, Lawrence, KS, has gotten 8" with at least 3" more to come! Looking out from my home-office window at the snowfall:

On the plus side, my dentist canceled my appointment today; in the negative column, I rescheduled for Friday.

But look, SNOW!

Nice! Are you taking good care of the birds and squirrels? Is school canceled? If so, you can go out and play!

We'll either get 1"-4" tomorrow night or we won't, or something in between. Who can say? Doesn't matter in some places, but in a hilly city like Seattle, it makes a difference. We're pretty distracted here.

We're supposed to get a foot on Wednesday. That's on top of the two feet already piled high on my lawn.

Bring it on, baby!

Absolutely! A pitiful bird urged me to do so this morning. No, really! It landed right by the sliding-glass door and looked in at me starvingly. So I shoveled off a little patch on the back patio and put out a bunch of bird seed and squirrel food.

I should probably refill that finch-feeder hanging from the garage eves, as well.

No school for two more weeks!

I spent hours watching videos of the last Seattle storm, including tons of cars sliding down Denny and one of a guy's commute from Redmond back to somewhere in the Ballard neighborhood. Made me so nostalgic for the old town!

Whoah! Now that's some serious snow, as if you folks need more....

Bless your heart! By all means, refill your finch feeder. I still don't have anybody coming to the nyjer thistle, although I did see a goldfinch in the tree, perched there like a little lemon.

One of the local cats killed one of my birds this weekend, and I feel somewhat responsible. Kind of down on cats (outdoor ones anyway, although it could be feral) at the moment.

Enjoy your time off!!! Any big projects planned besides writing?

We got about the same amount. It wasn't bad to shovel, and if it keeps snowing at the present rate I am good to go for tomorrow morning.

Yeah, I have mixed feelings about the family of feral cats that live beside my garage....

Lots of plans for break:
  • Complete the revision of Empire Ship and send it to agent. Finishing up right now!

  • Write the first few chapters of my YASF novel. I've completed the plot outline - and also for the next, and the big picture for the third!

  • That seems like plenty of writing goals, but also would like to get started on a story that I was invited to write for an anthology.

  • Also a nonfiction piece.

  • Hope to get started reading books for the Campbell Award, if they arrive soon.

  • Make some progress on the hot-rod Newport!

  • Prep for classes, including revamping one syllabus and updating the others. Also need to lay out a plan for my Advanced TC courses.

  • Oh, and need to start promoting the coming summer CSSF program.

Lotsa stuff planned for Break! So not really "time off" ;-)

The weather-dudes suggest 3-5" more snow today. I wish they'd plow the streets in this neighborhood!

My brother told me his town never bothered to plow after the 20" that fell in NJ. He walked to work in the next town over!

Yikes! At least we won't have to *fingers crossed* deal with that much precip. On the other hand, how cool would that be?

My dentist called to tell me she *wasn't* cancelling tomorrow. :-(

Better luck next time! I suspect I'm still on for physical therapy.
