No, cats are still around all over the place, but some farmer friends of mine are having a hard time keeping their cats alive at their place, because the bobcats are killing them. And, since the Humane society doesn't keep ferals around long, and insists on them being spayed and neutered, they don't want to go that route (ferals mostly already know how to hunt, whereas most fully domesticated ones don't do so well). Plus, they don't want to pay for them, even the small amount of the donation....
Me, I'd try to figure out a way to build a safe spot that the cats could get into but the bobcats couldn't, but that's sort of hard to do, really....
