Hadn't been planning to wear the helmet... but maybe think of it as this:
Clonetrooper grows weary of the Emperor's evil plans. Decides to take a day off harassing the locals, and instead hang out and play some board-games. Doesn't want to go in full gear, so he dons a subcontractor's T-shirt (of course, he'd feel NAKED without the helmet).
