Okay, first ice-caused wipeout of the season: Slid the scooter beside the security booth coming up the campus hill. Big sweep of ice around the corner, looked like water, guess it's colder than that. Thud at about 2 mph. Sore knee, but all else is well. Thank goodness for the thick leather jacket and gauntlets. Continued on my way, reminded to be wary for ice.

Oh, and it's freezing outside now. And snowing. Welcome to winter!

Chris

Edit: Ouch. Getting sore in one arm and shoulder now. Feh. Same shoulder I banged up a few weeks ago when I took a dive (assisted by a slipping stepping-stone) off a little hill on campus straight onto the road.

Edit2: Oooh, and the wrist is getting sore now. Hmm, I wonder if I can get Workman's Comp because it happened on campus? *g*

And snowing

Huh?

Gets up and goes to back deck

Oh. Blech.

Well, damn! Please take care of yourself!
I was going to head back to campus this afternoon but your experience on the scooter has made me rethink that idea.

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend it. Especially since it just snowed; anything that melts will become ice. Lovely on two wheels, especially cold rubber.

Keep your scooter pretty and unmolested! Unless you just keep a sharp eye out for black ice.

Yep. Fun when one is inside watching a crackling fire. Harumph.

It is a good day to stay in, if you can. I hope you don't find any more sore body parts from this wipeout!

I agree; not looking forward to driving back and forth to Kansas City tonight for teaching. I'll keep an eye out for ice so as not to wreck the new car!

Just went to the bathroom to look for bruises: Wow, I have some dramatic ones just above the knee and just below the elbow!

PS: Pretty icon!

One of my very first attempts at icon-making. Safe to say it's the original art that makes it special, and not any real skill on my part.

Glad you're (mostly) okay! Arnica extract is great for bruises.

Thank you! I'll see if the Merc has some (or if I have some of [livejournal.com profile] adammaker's miracle bruise remover).

Owie. It takes a few hours for the body to shake off the inital shock of the impact and realize it's been abused. Take something OTC for pain and take it easy.

From: [identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com

Yeah, I figured I'd find out how much it hurt only later.

Tonight's class is presentations, so I won't need to do a lot of gesturing with the sore arm *g* What I wish I could do is sleep all day tomorrow rather than spend all day tomorrow grading and teaching. Sigh.

I also have a spare bottle of arnica, if'n you want to try that.

Just curious--what's in your miracle bruise remover (if it's not a secret recipe, of course)?

ooh, ow-ey!

take care of yourself.

...or arrange for "poor baby" pats ;)

My family just lost a friend to a car wreck on the ice. Be ever so careful out there. I'm glad you had some good padding and only suffered some bruises.

Feeling much better now (just got the notification of this response. Wow.), and I think I'm done scootering for a while.
