Public service announcement: See this article for why you must practice safer sex. I hope this story reaches the kids on campus, because not only does it make real the threat of contracting HIV, but this guy appears to be an active threat: When he got out on bail, it seems that he tried to infect two more women. Holy crap! What's wrong with people?

I suppose (legalese to protect my own butt: assuming the allegations are true) this would make such a person an attempted serial murderer. Why such a light penalty, then? And why does he get out on bail when he's clearly a threat to society?

I've met him a few times, by friends, and the whole thing is very, very eye-opening. We've talked about this situation, about informing others, casual(ish) sex, that someone would be worse-than-denyingmeetsapathetic, that they would purposely seek to spread HIV. Goddamn.
