Okay, why the heck did LJ remove the ability to select text (using a mouse or touchpad)? This makes it impossible to use the "Quote" feature as well as making it more difficult to copy a post before hitting the "Update Journal" button (as I always due, in case of posting failure). Now I have to place my cursor at the end or beginning of a post or response, then use the arrow keys to select. Harumph.

Any tips?

EDIT: You can fix this yourself by going to the "Viewing Options" page. Stoopid LJ trying to "make things better" by getting in our fucking way. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] solan_t for the tip.

I don't know. But I can't use it in "source" either if I start out in rich text. It jumps my cursor to the top over and over. Very annoying.

See my updated post: You can fix it by going to the "Viewing Options" page. Yay!

People have been having trouble with the new view. Some people have the trouble, some don't (for example, I cannot do it using IE at home, but here at work where I run Foxfire I can). You can fix it by changing back to the old journal view.

However, you can fix it by going back to the old view:

Just did it and am SO much happier now. What were they thinking, that people would prefer to lose functionality? Stoopid programmers launching changes (and forcing them onto users) without testing them first. I looked everywhere to find a way to fix this, but never thought "Viewing Options" would affect usability.

Grrr.
