IE ActiveX issue patched!

Go get your security downloads now - Microsoft has released Windows Updates for five security fixes, including the ActiveX issue I mentioned last week. Then restart and you can return your IE security settings to Default Level Medium-High and not worry about blocking ActiveX. W00t!

(And while you're at it, download the new IE version 7. Why? Well, because - if for no other reason - they're finally compliant with CSS.)

Gwah. I had my first look at IE7 last week, and I couldn't navigate the UI. I'll stick with firefox, but thanks for the heads-up on the security patches.

Whaddya mean you "couldn't navigate the UI" - it's basically Firefox! You do have to turn on the Menu bar to get the traditional drop-downs, though; took me a few days to acclimate. Nice thing is that it isn't as much of a pain as Firefox (can you say irritating file-opening behaviors?) while no longer a problem with websites like the old IE.

Er, it may want to pretend to be Firefox between it's fluffy icons and the native Tab Browsing support, but shutting off the navigation menu is not really a feature for me, more of a Whisky-Tango-Foxtrot scenario.

I'll probably give it a more in-depth gander just so I can make fun of it more effectively.
