What I Did on My Xmas Vacation

Hi folks -

Continuing my efforts to get perspective on life and work, I'm staying away from the office until I absolutely need to be back there to update my class materials (syllabi, websites, assignments, handouts, and so on) and doing things I enjoy that I've been neglecting.( stuff )

joys of home ownership

...since the last installment, I went outside and tied- and staked-down the newly restored carport to help prevent it from flopping around as it had before. Also cleared the gutters on the garage and the house. For those of you who know me well, you'll be aware that climbing onto the roof of the house and clearing the gutters 20 feet above the cement patio out back is worthy of cheer.

Also cleared off the front patio (oak trees around the house lose leaves all winter, sigh) and bricked the area around the A/C unit to prevent mud-splash during rain storms.

Also, if you're a home-owner and do not own one of those fabulous gutter-scoopers, rush out right now and get yourself one! Makes scooping out that mucky leaf-goo soooo much nicer.
