Google has an amazing new project called "TiSP." You must check it out. Part of their "computer on every desk and a network in every pipe" long-term plan, I suspect.

What's extra-snazzy about this is that it's an example of an electronic documentation system as we discuss in the KU English 562: Advanced Technical Writing class.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] _starlady_ for the tip.

This story is a little scary. Basically, if you use an animated cursor on your computer, you're vulnerable to an attack.

(PS: Not an April Fool's story.)

Another example of why I just can't understand why anyone in their right mind would vote for today's Republican Party.

Good lord. They want to be able to arrest you without any judicial review. I guess that's not even really news any more. What should be news is that these bastards are still in office, and it's not a foregone conclusion that their party won't win next election, despite saying crap like the radical statements quoted in the linked story. This makes me mad and really does scare me because there's nothing checking the Executive branch except for a slim majority of Democrats... who are still just politicians, so there's no guarantee they can't be turned toward supporting an authoritarian dictatorship if the price is right.

We are so close to that state, people. Don't get passive now just because you think the Dems will save us.
