It is too bad that Nikki Giovanni tried to politicize the event. It should have been about the victims, not about her political agenda.

Um... huh? I don't have TV, so I didn't see any coverage beyond hearing the poem itself on the radio. What did she do to politicize it?

The only politicization I noticed was Bush zipping down there to pretend to care. (Compare that to how rapidly he visited the Katrina devastation.)

Maybe it is politically offensive if you are, say, in favor of boulders rolling over infants. There's that.
