This is disturbing: Global Incident Map.

Just one more advertisement for Bush's War on Terror™!

If you want to be disturbed, sure. How many billions of humans are there? Yes, there will always be such events. I accept that, I move on.

I suppose I should qualify that with a more detailed explanation.

I dislike people pointing out all the misfortunes of the world. This is largely what has become "news" in the modern era. Any world will have misfortunes, and a utopia is impossible. The best we can hope for is the best _possible_ world, and we're still doing okay. Granted, we could wipe ourselves out in a nuclear holodcaust - but we haven't yet, and have taken steps to avoid it.

Yet it seems like Bush's "Terror is Everywhere" message has gained too much ground. I hate to break it to everyone, but terror has always been everywhere - we're just looking for it now, it's become more visible. And therefore, more effective. Another ironic failure of the current administration.

I hear ya - and right now, I'd say our world (in the West, anyhow) is pretty darned good. No flying cars, mind you (where's my flying car dammit?), but good nonetheless.

I would like to hear of a good news station. Kittens and bunnies living together! People saving each other from burning buildings!

I suspect it's rather the opposite of what it appears to be. I mean, look at China: You know that the locals are acting out against the government, but you also know that such activities will never get reported. I bet it's similar for those other nations.
