Especially for [livejournal.com profile] weaselmom - squirrels with guitars! And fire and trebuchets and... stuff!

If anyone is able to translate this, I will be grateful. I think.

Best,
Chris

I am willing to swear I've heard that tune before, but then again, all European goth-metal sounds the same when it's sung by a squirrel.

Google, baby, Google. Pikku Orava is Finnish for Little Squirrel, and the little rodent's album went platinum. The Finnish song title "Taivas lyö tulta" translates to "The Sky Strikes Fire". Originally performed by Teräsbetoni (Finnish for "Reinforced concrete"), a Finnish heavy metal band on the album "Metallitotuus".

I think the Squirrel is better.

And for your amusement... the multicultural version
Anime images, Finnish song, an English Subtitles.

lyrics for Taivas Iyo Tulta

You can remind me later that I have no life. I found the original video (nowhere near as cool as the squirrel - but somebody did their homework).
As someone already explained, the band's name is Terasbetoni which means "reinforced concrete" (thank you Wikipedia) I guess they've been reinforced by METAL and apparently they're a lot like Manowar. Taivas Iyo Tulta means The Sky Strikes Fire and the song, just like most Manowar songs, talks about brotherhood and of course..... METAL
here's their official website: http://www.terasbetoni.com/

Here is the lyrics according to a rather unknown source. I do not vouch for their accuracy at all:

Behold, brothers, the time has come
before us even the strongest is powerless
Time stops and the mountains move
we won't shake even if flames fell on ground

For weaks the call of metal may be too much,
but not for them who are guided by the warrior instinct!

Heaven strikes fire above us,
the voice of truth echoes on the rocks
The magic of blood oath is always as our protection,
the sign of metallic brotherhood!

Wherever we may move we are always noticed,
honour and force make to believe us.
A path of fire follows our great horde,
nature is in our side supporting the message:

For weaks the call of metal may be too much,
but not for them who are guided by the warrior instinct!

Heaven strikes fire above us,
the voice of truth echoes on the rocks
The magic of blood oath is always as our protection,
the sign of metallic brotherhood!

Heaven strikes fire above us,
the voice of truth echoes on the rocks

Heaven strikes fire above us,
the voice of truth echoes on the rocks
The magic of blood oath is always as our protection,
the sign of metallic brotherhood!

Heaven strikes fire!
Heaven strikes fire!

Heaven strikes fire above us,
the voice of truth echoes on the rocks
The magic of blood oath is always as our protection,
the sign of metallic brotherhood!
