Why continue bitching about the heat? Because this morning on NPR we have been advised that the heat index will reach 112°-117°. Whoah!

Also, in Kansas City there's a smog advisory, and the city requests people keep driving to a minimum - and they're putting their money where their mouths are: Today you can ride the bus for 50 cents!

Stupid clouds last night prevented Perseid-watching. Why couldn't the clouds come out during the day when people could use 'em? Did anyone get out to enjoy the show?

Best,
Chris

I am a selfish lover of the Ozone days, because it means it only costs me $1 to get to work and back instead of $3.

Oh, and I tried to take Pari out to see, but the city lights and trees were in our way in my backyard, and she started whining that she was scared. Maybe next meteor shower.

Yeah, clouds over here in KC area last night, too. Seemed they moved in just in time to ruin it. Maybe catch some remnants of the shower tonight?

Certainly, the shower tonight should be about the same as Saturday night (about half as many meteors).

Went out a little while ago and there's a lot of humidity in the air so viewing isn't perfect, but did manage to see one really big streak and barely saw a couple of small ones. So the show's still on. But man it's muggy out there.
