I think there should be an option "dates geeks out of preference, not necessity."

They also have "a historian" instead of "an historian". Hmmm.

Well, actually, I spoke to our department chair (Mr. Grammar King) and he said that "a historian" is becoming acceptable in American writing. Acceptable or not, it still looks and sounds weird to me.
