This band, Tilly and the Wall (from Omaha), uses tap as an instrument. Huh!

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] hdorsettcase for the tip.

That's neat. But tap making a comeback?

Who says it ever died?
Stomp has been touring for years *g*

I'd say from the music and the movements, those gals are influenced more by Flamenco than tap.
And that bellydance shimmy-off in the first third? Priceless!

Leahy uses step-dancing in their music. Try "A Call to Dance Medley"...

I've got an MP3 of another song of theirs if you're interested in hearing more from them.

The tapping is meant to be part of the percussion in a performance that includes it.

The part that made me giggle a bit was "from Omaha", not a place most think of as a source of culture, unless they remember Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom.

Anyway, both that clip and the one in the reply are amusing.
