I just heard a series of explosions. Exploding transformers? Gunshots? Or perhaps gunshots from the freezing zombie mobs, rampaging through Lawrence in search of that last precious drop of petrol... or brains!

Finally, something is coming of all the hype.

Freezing Zombies! I would say that is a whole sub-genre that has yet to be explored!

Sorry to hear that you are being hit. We have had steady rain since mid evening yesterday, but the temp has been at or just below freezing and except for the trees, the there has been no ice formation.

So far, the experience here in Lawrence sounds about like yours. The trees are reallly iced up, but the roads don't look too bad. REALLY lucky it isn't colder, or the roads would be deadly.

Could be a tree biting the dust (or more appropriately, biting the ice). We had a tree split in half and fall in the street when I lived in your neck of the woods. We ran out of the house expecting to see a 10 car pile-up or something. It was really, really loud!

This is all very weird to me. If it was logically feasible to make an argument in favor of global warming based on the past year of weather in Ohio it would be too easy.

There's a high of 61 today in December when the average high is 43 (and the average low is 26).

Yesterday's highs here: mid 40s. Today's highs will be mid 70s. Ugh. I'd rather have some ice right now, so I could stay home, get a fire going, and do nothing. Barring the ick of ice (because I really don't romanticize it, I know how dangerous it is), I'd at least like it if there wasn't a 30 degree temperature difference within 24 hours.
