On NPR today, there was a story about Andrew Olmsted, an Army major serving in Iraq. He left a blog entry for his friend to post in the event of his death. Here's a photo of him:

Neither did I or the first four posters, and I just re-checked the blog site itself and it's still up; so...

In related news, good god. I admire that he says don't use him as a pro- or con- example for the Mission Not-Accomplished in Iraq, but it's hard to read a dead man's words as an upbeat progress report.

Being military brats makes us more aware of the costs of war than children who live without military relatives. I sympathize with the many children whose parents are away at war, I lived with it twice for a year apiece in my childhood. I was lucky. My father came home.
