Like everyone else, I had to try this. I think I can safely say mine is the most irritating of 'em all:

Pink? Pink?!

Purple on my monitor.

But what's wrong with pink?

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

Absolutely nothing wrong with pink. Also, on my friends list view, it shows up as black. Only when I clicked to post a comment did it show up as ... purple. Not pink. Because I used my wacky HTML skills to turn *this* text pink, and it is not the same color at all. (so there!)

I wonder what color my user name turns into?

Not Pink

It's more a fuschia, I think. And it complements your icon nicely.

(darn, no icon for 'tongue-in-cheek')

Pink?

I'm getting more of a sort of purply colour, meself. Of course, since I'm a guy, and we apparently only have 1/1000th the colour vocabulary women do, my datum is suspect.

But, like, no worry, dude, it looks purple to me.

My screen is showing it as much more of a magenta. Mmmm. Magenta!

Yours shows up a nice manly black on my screen.

It's not pink. It's really a magenta/purple/fuchsia color.

I'll trade you.

As [livejournal.com profile] c3fyn notes, men are not to be trusted for defining colors, the corollary being that women are not to be trusted in defining colors for men who do not have the same vocabulary. However, I make special dispensation for an artist telling me it's not pink. "Cerise" is okay, I guess. What's that? Hmmm... "A deep to vivid purplish red," according The American Heritage dictionary.

Hmmm. Still looks pinkish-purple to me.

Heh, nothing wrong with pink, it just made me wonder where in the heck LJ gets these colors. I mean, I've never used pink (or purple, for that matter) in any of my icons.

Mysterious.

Black. Interesting. I wonder where LJ gets these colors, and why it varies. Hey, maybe it's the browser: What do you use?

Well, let's see... prncsmoonbeam

Now to find out...

Re: Pink?

Ah, yes, that's it. A (male) artist friend tells me it's cerise. Well, you can hardly blame him for having woman-skills. (I hope he reads this, heh.)

Yes, it is the browser. On a standards complient browser, it will show up as black. Since I don't use IE, I've only been seeing black for everybody, so I wasn't getting what the big deal was :)

The answer, my friend, is ASCII numeric equivalencies and hexadecimal colour codes. You do the math.

From: [identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com

Oh, listen to the smarty-pants! IE isn't "a standards complient browser," eh? It only works better than most of the other browsers out there >g<

Re: Pink?

Don't tell nobody, but I'm a artist too. Means I got woman skills too, I think. Like I said...don't tell nobody.

Re: Pink?

too late...

You gots a website link for us to view yer work?

Chris

From: [identity profile] adammaker.livejournal.com

I included a tag that said
"include religious war over browsers here"
between angle brackets.

But the meaning was absorbed by the net, as it tried to render/insert it...
you know, instead of displaying it as a joke.

Darn angle brackets... too much time at work, and correct coding comes out when I least want it.

From: [identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com

Heh. That's why I end up using the ugly >< brackets for emoticon-ites. Thanks for the effort, though!

Feh,
Chris
