Playing along with the Self-Portrait Meme:

Take a picture of yourself right now.
Don't change your clothes, don't fix your hair... just take a picture.
Post that picture with no editing (except to reduce the size, of course).
Post these instructions with your picture.

Here's me with my little hammie in front of part of my bookshelves. He's the brown-and-white lump on my arm, just below the photo of Theodore Sturgeon:
All seems well...

And just to prove I've followed the rules, a bonus shot. Guess who just dove from my arm? I think I'm saying something along the lines of, "Oh, no! Mr. Hammie-Boy!"
...until Hammie-Boy decides to take a dive onto the couch!

(No worries; he landed on a cushion.)

Those are both cute! Did the hammie fix his hair before you took the shot?

From: [identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com

:-)

Nope; in fact, his ears had barely expanded out to their full span (he'd been nestling in for the night when I rudely interrupted him for his moment of fame).

...and I noticed that his little nose is already starting to go gray!

Oddly enough, you look exactly how I remember you from the Nebulas!

Imagine that! ;-)

Though perhaps not dressed quite as well, and unshaven. And with a hamster.

Thank you! I built-in a wall of shelves in my living room shortly after buying the house. They're about 18 feet long and 10 feet tall.

Yet this year I had to donate about 500 books to make room.

We're coming up on our one year anniversary in this house, and last May things finally fell in place to take one wall of the room that we dedicated to be my library and have a contractor build a bookshelf into the thing. It looks quite a bit like your wall (ten feet high, but I don't think it's quite eighteen feet wide, but now I'm going to have measure when I get back home).

When the paint finally (finally!) dried, I got to empty the 50+ boxes of books that had been sealed away from before we went off to Japan for last year's WorldCon. That nearly filled the thing. Now I'm looking at building two thirds of the thing again, on the facing wall. It's only two thirds because that wall contains the archway entrance to the room. Still, it would make me very very happy to have more shelf space.

Awwww, hammy! I miss having rodents, although darnit, they just don't live long enough. Great picture of you and your little man.

I loves me my rodents, but it's guaranteed heartbreak on a frequent basis. Dammit.

I suspect that, eventually, I'll just have rodents outside: "my" squirrels, bunnies, and yard-mouses.

chris!!! you played the meme!!!!!
i can't see theodore sturgeon in the pix, but you and hammie are SO SASSY!!! the second image made me laugh. he's camera shy!!
so your cats don't bother the hamster?

From: [identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com

SASSY, yay!

Actually, the best way to ensure that cats stay away from hamsters is to let the hammie run around in a Ball of Speed Magnification, terrifying the cats. After that, cats smell hamster and think, "Eeek! It'll roll over my tail!"

That's why his name is "Hefner"--"Heifer" was out since, you know...boy hamster.

From: [identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com

'Course, it's always possible that he'd have preferred people to recongize and appreciate his cross-dressing.

I am shocked and embarrassed by my negligent attitude towards the hammie's possible tendencies towards genderfuck. Me, of all people!
