Wow, what an amazing light show! After sequestering myself in the downstairs amid churning animals during the actual tornado watch, I saw the weather-dude exclaiming that it was the most lightning he'd ever seen during a storm. Of course, that meant I had to go outside and watch. Wow, continual (no, really) flashes, some circular lightning, flickers everywhere, little branching flashes -- and no rain, so I could watch and watch. Ended up bringing Hope up here to the top of the hill (KU campus) which has a great view of town to watch the storm. Then the second wave of serious thunderstorms hit, hiding the flashes.

But wow.

Lucky You

Thunderstorms are one of the few things I really miss about the Midwest (along with lightning bugs and family). Everytime I go back in the summer I stay up everynight hoping to see a really good one like you got.

Re: Lucky You

I know -- this is one of my favorite things about the Midwest and one that I missed mucho, too. I'm less enthusiastic about tornadoes, and thunder makes me tense because of Hope's phobias, but it was great. I wish Kij were in town to have enjoyed it!
