That *MUST* be generational. I can't think of anyone who doesn't do that except my parents.

I really, really hate it when people talk on their cell phones and I'm out at lunch or something with them. I actually find texts mildly less intrusive unless the person is doing it a lot. But when someone answers the phone and proceeds to have a 15 minute conversation through our 30-45 minute lunch I want to destroy things. My married friends do this to me all the time with their wives.

Y'know, now that I think of it, some of my friends do that when we're out at a bar or something, but it's mostly chatting or texting with people who are looking for us.
