You know, it's making me a little crazy, Chris: a steady barrage of details in the news about the massive failures of the Bush administration at home and abroad, coupled with its rock-steady poll numbers. Are there really 100 million Americans so irretrievably stupid as to want another four years of misfeasance, malfeasance and nonfeasance?

Y'know, I just don't understand it. I can't believe that many Americans are gullible fools, so I asked around to try to figure out what's up with them. A co-worker suggests it's because of the radical-right Christians who see hiim as their mouthpiece. In a way, then, he's no different than bin Laden -- radical Muslims support him, even though in action (like Bush) he goes against the rules of his own religion.

Humans are scary and freakish creatures when they do not open their minds. I've always believed SF is one path to opening awareness, and have promoted SF as a tool to help keep young people's minds open. But I'm afraid it'll take more than that.
