Just realized that I oughta make a post for locals that I'm out of town, up in Minneapolis now as I write this in my stepmom's office. Kij and I are up here to fetch my 1951 Chevy, which I'll be driving home on Wednesday or Thursday (it'll take a bit longer to get home in a car that shouldn't exceed 60 or 65mph).

See y'all later,
Chris

But you're going to change that ASAP, right?

Oh, yeah. I'm going to try to talk [livejournal.com profile] 0verdrive into selling me one of the small-block Chevy engines he's hoarding and start building a replacement engine for the 216 6-cylinder.

Right, different engine. That was a 454 from his bro's truck. He also has a 4-bolt main 350 I bought a coupla years ago for a project I decided not to do and a 400 that he decided he liked better ('twas already rebuilt but is only a short block, plus it's a 400, dude; he wants to use the heads and stuff from the 350 for the 400, but I'm not sure if he's going to do that 'cause the car they're supposed to go into was Lydia's car, and the rod he wants to build for himself will use a flathead he has.)

You're leaving on the first day of Minicon? Whatever are you thinking?

I'm trying to convince Kij to stay, but you'd have to talk to her! I need to get back because of teaching stuff that I've ignored this week.

It's a sweet ride! I might not even swap out the engine, not right away, anyhow, because it's a better motivator than I recalled they were.

Hugs to Jeanineers,

upgrades

Well, I would concentrate on the retched brakes and suspension they put in those things first. I had a friend with a 55 bel aire. He replaced the brakes and suspension with parts from a 69 chevelle. Disk brakes are good. Better drums on the rear. He used the entire rear end as I recall getting some low ratio posi trac in the bargin.

btw he rolled that car, I know I was in it!
