Okay, these pictures are genuinely terrifying. Seriously, if I weren't at work, I'd be whimpering and cowering. A few are beautiful (the non-apocalyptic ones). I ask it again: How do you people LIVE like this, where the very air comes down to smite you? And not just once in your lifetime, but over and over?

And what's with the big curving cloud things in some of the first shots? What *is* that, meteorologically speaking?

The big curving cloud things are "wall clouds," and they often turn into tornadoes.

Don't you love the end-of-the-world shots where you can see the stars as well as the storms of doom?

Weather is cool. As long as it doesn't smite you. Then, if you live and have insurance, it's still cool.
