Wow. I've been trying to post a reply to the eBay discussion forum about Larry Rosselli of LRCards.com, who ripped me off in the range of $455. I added my response to a thread on the eBay discussion forums (which, you'll notice, no longer exists), where someone had posted about him doing the same to them.

Within minutes, my response was deleted and I got a message from the eBay Moderation Team about how I was making the community less happy or something. So I removed the words "illegal activity" and "fraud" from my response and re-posted. Within seconds, I got a message that the eMB Team deleted it for a similar reason. Finally, I posted this:
I was also taken by Larry Rosselli of lrcards.com. He had an auction on eBay for a case of cards ($455.00), I paid through PayPal using my credit card (thank goodness), and he replied a couple of weeks later that the cards didn't ship.

I asked for clarification, got none until writing a few more times, when he sent a form reply email about his business going out of business.

This means he listed a case of cards for sale that he did not possess.

To eBay Moderation Team: STOP DELETING THIS FACTUAL POST! I'M SAYING NOTHING HERE THAT DID NOT HAPPEN.

Expecting another speedy deletion, I instead discovered that the entire thread has been deleted.

I'm not a big conspiracy buff, so I assume Larry Rosselli of LRCards.com is not on the eBM Team. This means that eBay is so desperate to ensure that no one knows actual fraud and theft occurs on their site that they would rather silence their customers from informing one another than actually fix the problem.

Please spread the word far and wide about how eBay is hiding the truth about fraud on their site. I wonder how much this happens if they so speedily hide the truth.

EDIT: I just posted a new thread; let's see how long it remains!

EDIT 2: I just posted another new thread; let's see how long it remains! It was deleted because I included ".com" in "lrcards.com," so I've fixed that....

EDIT 3: I just posted yet another new thread; let's see how long it remains! They gave no real reason this time for deletion, only repeating the website language. Tell me if you see a website in this message:
Larry Rosselli (eBay user account lrcards) has gone out of business.

My experience (transaction verifiable on eBay):

He had an auction on eBay for a case of cards ($455.00), I paid through PayPal using my credit card (thank goodness), and he replied a couple of weeks later that the cards didn't ship.

I asked for clarification, got none until writing a few more times, when he sent a form reply email about his business going out of business.

This means he listed a case of cards for sale that he did not possess.

How many others are out big cash?

Chris

That is terrible! I mean the fact you got robbed, and then the censorship! What's up with Ebay???

I truly hope you recover your losses...

From: [identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com

Yeah, all around. Thanks for the well-wishes; I hope so, too....

From: [identity profile] frugurl27.livejournal.com

That is some seriously weak sauce. It's always disheartening to hear about stuff like this, especially given my love for eBay.

Hope you get all this resolved!

Apparently not long at all.

Yeah, I noticed. I re-posted, removing possible language that might get it pulled again....

You're apparently not alone--his eBay account's been NARU'd (suspended). His web site says he's out of business and working on refunds and orders right now. Done crasht & burned, it looks like.

Yep yep, using Paypal may be a pain but there is a good side.

From: [identity profile] tully01.livejournal.com

And from the web site:

"Any outstanding orders please contact your credit card provider."

From: [identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com

Yup, he's making the credit card companies suck it up. Because they're full of cash right now....

It's the American Way, getting the taxpayer to bail out the crooks.

Yeah, the first thread had nine people who responded whose responses were visible when I replied. Can't imagine how many more were out there!

I went to his site right away and saw that note. I think it's more lies, as he didn't even make the effort to refund or send product.

I checked his auction records, and the $ size and amount of that last week's sales were completely in line with his previous monthly/weekly sales and his feedback was consistently excellent. It looks like everything just stopped abruptly in mid-swing on Feb 7. Not that it lessens your problem and pain any, but it's possible he got ill and got behind, and/or simply keeled over dead...or both. No warning signs in the feedback or anything, just everything ending abruptly on Feb 7. Since they pulled all the actual auction llistings when the NARU'd him I can't see if they were maybe "rollover" listings that just didn't get pulled when his business went under, either.

When eBay NARU'd his account for whatever reason Paypal would have also frozen his Paypal account AND put a big hold on his "real world" Paypal-registered bank account to cover outstanding unfulfilled auctions. Once that happened, even if he were alive and had the goods he wouldn't ship them, because his odds of being paid anytime soon would be nil.

Ebayed

Ha it looks like they have already deleted your new thread... I think a lot of eBay's practices have gone way out of control in recent years. I always worry about selling things on there now because of not being able to leave bad feedback. The fees are also kind of ridiculous and being basically obligated to use pay pal is also obnoxious.

Re: Ebayed

Yep, yep, and yep. But they're the only game in town....

Hey, want to weld up that broken shifter-peg so I can resume motorcycle lessons without installing a new piece (that might get broken)?

Re: Ebayed

Oh, geez; like I said, everyone tips it over when they're first learning! This is why replacement mirrors (and brake- and clutch-levers) are so common! :-D

Re: Ebayed

I pretty much dropped Ebay a couple of years ago.

They were the only game, but I didn't really need to play.

Re: Ebayed

Not the only game in town anymore!!

But yah, I know what you're saying. I'm in a tangle right now with a regular seller that eBay squashed for offering a buy one/get one free day.

Re: Ebayed

As an eBay seller (mostly "former" nowadays) I couldn't agree more. They've done their best to drive out all the smaller specialty sellers in favor of the big volume sellers of ordinary crap. In my own area of rare books the fees over the last two years have more than doubled to where between the Paypal and eBay fees they now take 20% or more off the top, and they've restricted allowable shipping charges to where you're forced to lose money on shipping.

Their answer on shipping is "just add the extra cost to your base price!" Meaning, quietly pass the increase on to the buyer and make your material less saleable. Of course, they get a cut of the base price but not of ordinary shipping, so that means they're knicking the buyer a good bit as well. I've taken to selling my top-end material directly to specialty dealers. Less hassle, same or better money.

Re: Ebayed

I thought the internet was supposed to make buying and selling things simpler and more efficient.

It's time for a real alternative to eBay. Someone needs to create a Craigslist-type free site that has the safety features of eBay, perhaps ad supported....

From: [identity profile] siro-gravity.livejournal.com

absolutely incredible. i cannot believe it. it is harder for me to believe that ebay pulled all your posts than it is to believe that some desperate asshole stole your money.

so did the person you bought from have good enough credentials? i would never give that kind of money to anyone with less than a 98% it's a lot of money, chris. thank god it went through your credit card.

From: [identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com

Even better: They have now blocked me from making any community posts for a month or something. !

He had a really great rating. I even bought from him before. Then, I suspect, he was affected by the economic downturn and decided to just take in as much as he could before declaring bankruptcy.

From: [identity profile] siro-gravity.livejournal.com

LOL!!! banned from making community posts for a month??

i understand desperation, but stealing from individuals who purchase from you in good faith? that is really low.

From: [identity profile] stuology.livejournal.com

It sounds as if he owes a bunch of people: http://www.blowoutcards.com/forums/baseball/19674-victim-economy.html

No idea about the eBay censorship. I've used it maybe 4 times ever. It is a little disconcerting.

From: [identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com

It's interesting to see this, as it's my first direct experience with the economic collapse. I know people who experienced things (like layoffs), but this is my first personal whack.

Filed a complaint with PayPal, and yesterday filed with my credit card. Hope to get my refund soon. *sigh*
