Help Haiti

I just heard on the news that as many as half a million are dead in Haiti. In fact, according to CNN, "About 3 million people - one-third of Haiti's population - were affected by the quake, the Red Cross estimated."

Half a million dead is nearly incomprehensible, but considering the total population and how many more are seriously affected, it's catastrophic. Here's how you can help:

In my Day Job (tm), I do quite a bit of writing for some of the first-responder and on-site religious organizations in Haiti (Port au Prince, specifically). The information we're getting from those folks, as we put together donor communications, is pretty astonishing.

I hope that 500,000 figure isn't right. To put that in perspective - it would make this one the second deadliest earthquake, and twice as many deaths as the 2004 tsunami.

There is also a texting one .. HAITI to 90999 and send $10 will go to the Red Cross Haiti efforts. The 10 will appear on your cell phone bill.
