Breaking news! In honor of Topeka changing its name to "Google" last month, Google is changing its name to "Topeka."

That's considerably better than "UFO Photographed Over Corning's Gaffer Tower." Though admittedly, the photoshop in question was quite well done, and the caption, a masterwork, pointing out as it did that the Military was insisting it was a Weather Balloon.

April Fool's is a huge traffic day for me. It's like a Christmas present. YouTube has TEXTp mode (plays videos like it's ASCII text and claims they save $1 per second on bandwidth) Gmail is having a vowel outage, but hopes to have things back up to the 99.9 percent letter uptime we've come to expect. Google Books and Google Maps have 3D mode. Google UK has an Android app to translate animal languages into English.

My favorite non-Google announcement is Opera, which released a Space version of their Web browser today.
