Last night, a big ol' chunk of (probably) comet streaked across Midwestern skies. Here's a video taken by Howard County, Iowa, Sheriff's dash-cam:

From NOAA: "The fireball was seen across Northern Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, and Southern Wisconsin. Several reports of a prolonged sonic boom were received from areas north of Highway 20, along with shaking of homes, trees and various other objects including wind chimes. As of late Wednesday evening, it is unknown whether any portion of this meteorite hit the ground."

NOAA is National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association. Goverment weather control satellites!

see, that is what I thought he meant. I am very familair with the association, I just didn't know that they did all atmosphere including space...with the oceans, that just seems like a lot for one government organization.

I think they only get concerned with stuff that will interact with the atmosphere. Earth-killing asteroids are probably part of their duty, too ;-)

it just seems like an awful lot for them to take on, seems to me they should split it into two organizations.

Or do they only get concerned with things that will interfere with warfare exercises?
Let's face it, weather mod started to help the forces along.
