Keith Olbermann is a national treasure. His Special Comment section often says exactly what needs to be heard amid the roar of right-wing idiocy. For example, here he discusses why there's no such thing as the "Ground-Zero Mosque," and why we must all oppose the racists who are trying to stop construction of the Islamic culinary school and prayer center they're hoping to build a few blocks from the World Trade Center site:

The money shot: "In America, when somebody comes for your neighbor, or his Bible, or his Torah, or his Atheists' Manifesto, or his Koran, you and I do what our fathers did, and our grandmothers did, and our founders did, you and I speak up!"

I'm speaking up.

I happened to see that "live" last night. Keith's "Special Comments" agree with my opinion almost every time, and this was no different.

Sadly, the country is becoming more and more polarized all the time, and in some states (such as where you and I live) it can become downright uncomfortable being left of center.

I don't know what's going to break that polarization. The progressives are the only way forward, but there's such a big, self-destructive movement to look at the past. I suspect we'll see more and more of that as we march into the future.

"The Daily Show" pointed out that there are anti-Mosque movements in TN, WI, and CA, so it isn't just about Ground Zero.

I find it ironic that the guy who says his show is "a comedy show, not news" has the best news show on the air. *sigh*
