Here's my take, which I'm not hearing on the news: Republicans are sick and tired of the Do-Nothing-Know-Nothing Party (aka "Republican Party") of the last few years and are sending them a message: "Get out." I have serious trouble believing any of the whackadoo Tea-Baggers will actually win, and I'm sure most of the Republican base is also aware of this.

So this is just the opposite of what the press is making of it: Tea-Party primary victories mean fewer Do-Nothing-Know-Nothing seats. It's a good day in politics!

Chris, you are an optimist. I hope you are right!

I'd like to think that, but I'm not so sure. I've met very few republicans that are, well, adult enough to admit they've ever made a mistake. Most of them will vote republican up until they have a brown-shirt on the ticket, then they'll just not vote at all.

That said, I'm hoping that once some actual debates start to happen, the crazy will be exposed and the democrats will crush them.

Hoping.

That One!

It worked with Palin. Thinking of the Vice-Presidential debate, I imagine her handler screaming in her ear-piece, "Ix-nay on the ead-day ife-way and-ay aughter-day!"
Then later saying, "What was that? We didn't tell you about Biden's dead wife and daughter so you could *taunt* him about them!"
And her saying, "I don't speak Latin..."
Yeah, the crazy will show, even with the less crazy.

Man, I wish I had that much optimism. I haven't seen evidence indicating they're that smart though...

Combined with the lethargy observed by Ezra Klein amongst Democratic voters, I don't have high hopes for the midterm elections. Though one hopes voters will draw the line before O'Donnell...
