This weekend, I:

. Fixed the radiator leak under the Saab's hood.
. Finally washed that poor, filthy car.
. Fixed another leak, this one in my toilet.
. Installed a new seal under my garage door.
. Started installing insulation on said door.
. Put away the garage dehumidifier/AC and replaced it with the regular dehumidifier.
. Oh, and I HAD THE RELEASE EVENT FOR MY DEBUT NOVEL!

It's a book! Holding the one and only existing hardcover at the release event.

Audience at the book-launch. That's SF Grand Master James Gunn on the left side, for whom I wrote this book in the first place. Thanks for coming, everyone!

Reading at the book launch in Jayhawk Ink, at the University of Kansas student union, in Lawrence, Kansas, on Friday, Nov. 5, 2010.

My editor, Eric T. Reynolds, snapped this shot in front of the Jayhawk Ink bookstore, a few days before the official release event.

TRANSCENDENCE release after-party, with MellyStu being trouble. Note how Daruma still has only one colored-in eye... that was about to change.

TRANSCENDENCE among some of my short stuff, on my bookshelves, at the release party.

Daruma finally sees TRANSCENCENCE published! An event 10 years in the making.

Now available at fine bookstores and online dealers such as Amazon (hardcover and trade paper) and Powell's (trade paper only). Or order directly from the publisher at a nice discount with free shipping: Hadley Rille Books.

I cannot begin to describe how pleased I am. *beam*

Here's wishing you a fine day. Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who attended the reading, signing, and party. You made it an Event of Awesomeness™.

It was a lovely turnout - I was so pleased that so many people came to hear me read!

What a wonderful turnout. I'm glad you had a crowd for your launch.

From: [identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com

Thank you! And you can only see half of 'em! Great turnout for the after-party, too. Folks made me feel really good.

I felt transcendent - nice turnout for the reading, a real-live book in my hand, lovely day outside, my long-delayed novel finally breaking the curse... Woohoo!

I was about to say "That's so cool" but really that's the understatement of the millenium. Very very very happy for you -- you work as hard as anyone I know and it's awesome to see your success!

From: [identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com

Aw, thank you! Yeah, it's more than cool. In the words of Robin Wayne Bailey, it's "better than sex*."

*Or thereabouts. Super-awesome.

Congratulations! And again, had I not already had a plane ticket to be elsewhere, this would have spawned a spur-of-the-moment trip to KC for [livejournal.com profile] adammaker and I. &hearts

P.S. You look fantastic. RAWR.

Aw, that's so sweet. It would have made my day!

PS: Thank you!

You look very proud--and somehow I don't think it's because you fixed the toilet. : D I'm so happy that lots of people came. And I bet that your book is EVEN BETTER than most of the crap that gets published! (Very old in-joke . . . the highest accolade our one-time writers group could have bestowed.) Wish I were there to buy you a pitcher of the finest margaritas. I guess a virtual pitcher would be better for your heightened fitness, anyway. So I'm toasting you in absentia.

Mike came up for the event, so we had half of the ol' crew! I thought of you often that night; thank you so much for your encouragement and words of wisdom and friendship lo these many years.

Hugs!
Chris

Wow, Chris, that looks like the largest group I've seen at the old Bookstore for a book signing/launch... well done!

I'm sorry we missed the event and party, we ended up with other nonsense.
Where would be the better place to order to further your book juju?

From: [identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com

They did a really nice job of getting the word out, and it _was_ a fantastic group! Sorry you two missed, too, but life is what it is. And for me on Friday night, it was AWESOME.

Ah man, it looks like a great time! Sad that I couldn't make it.

Good job! And here's hoping that it is just the start.

Thank you! And best wishes for you in your big life adventures.

Still wish I could have made it! Curse this new job. But hey, question - since I was your lovely proofreader, do I get a copy for Christmas? *wink*

From: [identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com

It would have been so keen if you could have come!

I'm pretty sure Eric is planning to give you a contributor's copy :-D Before Christmas, even.

Awesomesauce. Thanks so much for the opportunity to help!

From: [identity profile] mckitterick.livejournal.com

Oh, man, both of us SO MUCH appreciate your keen eye!

PS: Whoah, you have a color version of my Typewriter Monkey icon! W00t!
