So many of you made good arguments (in response to my anti-college-sports post) about how athletics help universities. I buy it, though I still don't like how much energy colleges expend on such non-academic activity.
Last Saturday, I did watch - with
starstraf, Pooch, Jony and Chelsie, and
jamer_31 and his girls - KU trounce all over North Carolina, and I'll be watching as KU plays their final enemy of the year (Memphis, I believe).

I swam in high school and practiced at a YMCA instead of the high school. The drive was 1 hour a day at least. This is because my school didn't have a pool or nearly as good of a swimming program as the YMCA I went to.
Imagine if the high school had a pool and a good program. Would've saved tons of money, gas, etc.
As soon as you put sports out of school this would be the analogy for all sports.
