I think we should:

a) See Harry today at 5.
b) See Vin (er, Riddick) tomorrow at whatever matinee. Choices follow:
Saturday, Jun. 12: 12:45 1:55 4:20 4:50 7:00 7:35 9:50 10:15

Speaking of Riddick, Mac had an interesting theory that he's the same character from Pitch Black. Anyone know the backstory on these? Could it be he's the serial killer hero who gathered special powers from the monsters in PB?

"Mac had an interesting theory that he's the same character from Pitch Black. Anyone know the backstory on these?"

It's hardly a theory, Chris, it's a fact. If you pop into a video store you'll see Pitch Black has been repackaged as 'Chronicles of Riddick: Pitch Black.'

The new film is being panned mercilessly but we're still gonna go see a matinee of it.

I'm up for Riddick tomorrow! It is the same character from Pitch Black. I'd vote for the 4:20 or 4:50 showing.

I vote for the 4:20, and have to say ditto to [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage. Mac must be confused, surely he knows it's the same story and is just pulling your leg?

I think it's telling that I've never even heard of Pitch Black. That said, I don't think I'm interested in seeing Riddick, either. =) But the boy & I would still like to see Troy sometime, if anyone's interested.

Well, it wasn't a big blockbuster hit when (a href-"http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0134847/">Pitch Black came out, but it does have Claudia Black in it. CoR is a pet project of Diesel's apparently, and is a sequel.

That's okay, we'll help you out. It will be good to see you out and about.

I hope you guys enjoyed it -- turns out we're under a thunderstorm and tornado watch, and what with a psycho dog, we can't leave her alone.

So no movie for the Hope parents today :-(

Kij suggests that we might not be able to make out-of-the-house plans for any time doggie daycare is closed, at least not firm plans. So anyway, plan is to head to Arizona BBQ after the show... unless'n of course it's storming, in which case how about we whip up dinner at our joynt? If anyone has a chance to read this, of course... unlikely... and I don't know y'all's cell-phone numbers who are at the movie... feh.

Stoopid dog. Poo.

We'll help you out too. Although we decided to not call you from the theatre, turns out we'll be meeting up or at your place later anyway. :)

Pooch wants to see Riddick if you haven't seen it yet give him a call

My new cousin-in-law indicated that "The Chronicles of Riddick" was a book/story/series of some sort.

Re: Alright you primitive screwheads...

Riddick is indeed the same character from Pitch Black.

He never gained any special powers. He was imprisoned on a mining colony underground and basically had his retinas polished out to make them ultra-sensitive. So he can see in the dark like a cat, but is sensitive to light, hence the goggle thing.

This is the sequel to Pitch Black. The girl in the trailers is the little girl he saved all grow'd up.

They re-edited the movie right before release because apparently American audiences can't grasp things like deep plot.

Why do I know all this? I have this nagging knack for movie info and trivia. Anyway, that's your primer. Have fun.

Re: Alright you primitive screwheads...

Cranky much? Half of us commenting knew the relationship of the two films, and we're hardly primitive. What few rituals remain primitive are practised under the cover of deep night, and we're otherwise as savvy as can be. ;)
